The Untold Story

So, confession time. I write a lot on this blog about the ways you can get healthier, the foods you should eat, and the exercises you should do to improve the chances of getting the body that you want.

But we don’t talk enough about just how difficult it is to lose weight, or how long the process might take.

It isn’t easy, and far too often the fitness industry sells you this idea that if you just take our advice, then you’ll get the results you want.

But none of this takes into consideration the time, sweat and sometimes tears that go into actually making real and long lasting changes in your life. It also doesn’t take into account the emotional and psychological journey that you need to go on to get you to your goal.

Which is why I want to introduce you to our newest trainer, Elfie.

This is what he looks like now.

Now take a look at Elfie 7 years ago.

“Food was my reward, and it was my family’s way of showing me affection,” says Elfie.  “Little did they know that what they thought was love, was actually setting me up for a difficult future.”

It took Elfie 7 years of disciplined eating, a daily workout, and a complete change in his mindset about food and fitness to get to where he is today.

Along the way he suffered many setbacks, disappointments, and just plain really bad days.

“I remember once when I was in secondary school, there was a girl that I liked, and I thought she liked me,” he says, recounting those days wistfully. “I asked her out, and she said - ‘sorry, I like you as a friend and I don’t date fat guys.’ That hurt.”

Elfie turned that pain and hurt into fuel for his workouts and commitment to his food. He also knew that this could not be a halfway temporary measure - it had to be something he did for the rest of his life.

“I knew this was a lifestyle change”, Elfie says. “And it’s the reason I joined IFC. This is a company that embodies that lifestyle change. And understands that fitness isn’t about doing something sporadically, just for today or tomorrow. It is for the rest of your life. But you have to commit to it.”

Are you ready to commit? If so, we’re here to help. We know how hard it is to get to where you want to go. And we’ll be with you, every step of the way
